For Melbourne couple Allie and Ben, who are diehard LARP (live action role play) fans, they wouldn’t have it any other way.

Sharing the details of their budget medieval themed day for Channel 7’s Australia’s Cheapest Weddings, it’s a pretty eye opening insight into exactly how far a themed wedding can go.

It was love at first sight on the battlefield when Allie and Ben, whose alter egos are called Aurora and Tersius, locked eyes at their usual Friday night fight.

“He has this amazing piece of art tattooed on his back. He was running across the field looking scary as all hell, hunting people down,” explains Allie.

“I was absolutely terrified of him, but at the same time he was this enigma to me. I had to know who that person was. So I found out, and I liked what I found out.”

The feeling was mutual, and the couple soon began planning their wedding.

Working to a budget, Allie reveals she bought her $2500 dress on sale for $800, and the couple lucked out with a $4000 fully decorated venue in an industrial part of Melbourne, which while nondescript on the outside, housed a Secret Garden ceremony room and an Ever After reception room inside.

“If money was no object, I would probably be in a full suit of armour, so would the groomsmen,” says Ben. “Probably have chariots.”

Forget expensive food, the couple made do with a $25 dollar a head food package and a BYO drinks policy (why is this not more of a thing?)

And for entertainment?

The couple’s friends staged a swordfight soon after the couple’s vows.

Brad Pitt has responded to Angelina Jolie’s divorce filing, fighting his soon-to-be ex wife for joint custody of the couple’s six children.

Angelina filed for divorce from the 52-year-old actor in September after an alleged incident on a private plane between him and their 15-year-old son Maddox.

The Maleficent star also filed for sole custody of their children, only allowing Brad visitation rights. The couple are also parents to Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

According to the New York Post, Brad, who has strongly denied any allegations of child abuse against his eldest child, filed legal paperwork on Friday asking for joint physical and legal custody, meaning the war between Hollywood’s former golden couple is set to continue and possibly heat up!

“There has been a lot of damaging information leaked about Brad from Jolie’s camp, but in the past month, things have quietened down,” a source told the publication.

“Now he is challenging Jolie and asking for joint custody of the kids, there is an expectation that there will be more attacks from her camp.”

Brad and Angelina had been together for 12 years and married for two after meeting on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2004.

The FBI have previously spoken to the 41-year-old actress in relation to the alleged altercation between Brad and Maddox to determine whether there is enough evidence to warrant an official investigation into the matter.

“The agents wanted a breakdown of everything that happened from when the plane took off to when it landed,” a source told Us Weekly last month.

Despite the investigation it’s since been claimed that Angelina doesn’t want Brad to be prosecute, with TMZ reporting she threatened to go “radio silent” if the Fury star is charged.

Last month it was revealed that Brad had been reunited with his kids for the first time since Angelina filed for divorced, including Maddox.

In a post shared to Kylie Cosmetics Instagram account, it read: “Hey guys! Very excited to reveal to you the first#HolidaySurprise. The Love Child star has reportedly been overheard having a very telling conversation about those Andrew Upton claims.

She went into hiding after being linked to Cate Blanchett’s husband, Andrew Upton, and now Harriet Dyer has broken her silence about the allegations.

According to New Idea, the 27-year-old was overheard discussing the incident at the No Activity premiere last week.

“He’s a notorious party boy – everyone knows that,” the Love Child actress allegedly told a group of friends, including Offspring star Dan Wyllie.

The magazine reports that Harriet added that the footage, which saw herself and Andrew looking cosy during a night out in Sydney, “was just drinks after the show,” and that while she wants to address the allegations, she fears doing so “just adds fuel to the fire.”

New Idea, who first released the video footage of the pair, also claims Harriet was heard saying she’d spoken to the Carol actress about the recording, with apparently saw her holding hands with Andrew, who married Cate in 1997.

“I sent through an email to Cate and said: ‘This is all s***,'” the mag says Harriet said.

“She wrote back: ‘We’re cool babe.’ Pat’s fine, Andrew’s fine, I’m fine – Cate was the missing piece of the puzzle.”

Surprisingly her admission that “Pat’s fine” also seems to confirm her relationship with No Activity co-star Patrick Brammall, who was absent from the premiere despite starring in the series and being the show’s co-creator.

GLUTEN-FREE CHEWY CHOCOLATE CHIP AND COCONUT GRANOLA BARS
Prep time: 20 minutes. Makes 16 servings.

Ingredients

• 60ml coconut butter
• 30ml melted coconut oil
• 75ml honey
• 5ml vanilla essence
• A pinch of salt
• 125ml desiccated coconut
• 375ml puffed brown rice cereal
• 375ml instant oats
• 80ml chopped 70% dark chocolate

Method

1. Line a 23-cm square tin with baking paper.
2. In a large saucepan, heat the coconut butter, coconut oil and honey over a medium heat, stirring until it starts to gently bubble. Add the vanilla essence and salt and heat for another 2 minutes. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the coconut, puffed rice and oats.
3. Scrape the mixture into the lined tin. Gently spread it out with your hands and press down quite firmly to pack the mixture into the tin. Quickly sprinkle over the chopped chocolate and lightly press the pieces into the mixture. Leave to cool before cutting into 16 bars.

What exactly are fillers? 

There are different types of fillers and the most popular ones are made of non-animal hyaluronic acid, which stimulates the skin’s natural collagen production. This is less likely to cause allergic reactions than when using collagen fillers. We use fillers to balance and enhance features, add volume to various parts of the face, improve the appearance of dark circles around the eyes, among other things. Is there a minimum or maximum age for Botox and plastic surgery?

I wouldn’t treat anyone under the age of 18 if it’s purely for aesthetic purposes. I treat many teenagers for acne or if they have specific muscle abnormalities, which might be pulling on their faces and causing them distress. These younger patients would require their parents or guardians to consent to treatment. When it comes to general aesthetic treatments, it’s never too late to start, but I prefer to maintain original features than create new ones.

Where do you draw the line on cosmetic procedures?

When someone asks for treatment for the wrong reasons. For example, if their partner is forcing them to have work done, or if they are expecting something unreasonable. It’s the doctor’s responsibility to manage the patient’s expectations and convince them not to have treatments when the result would be bad. In fact, my main aim with my treatments is to get patients to look good without looking like they’ve had any work done at all.

Do you think celebrities have become more open about getting work done?

Most definitely, as it has become more acceptable. When it comes to minimally-invasive anaesthetic medical treatments, there’s far less of a stigma than with traditional surgery. We’ve even reached the point where many people view these treatments as a status symbol, posting about them on social media and talking openly about them to their friends and family.

Shah filled us in on the hazards you might encounter through your Halloween costume — it turns out the scariest part of your costume might be what’s in your makeup. Here’s what to look for, and how to avoid the risks.

Colorful makeup and dyes

“Besides color additives, makeup contains a number of base ingredients, such as fillers, fragrances, binders, emollients, and preservatives, to name a few,” says Shah. “In cheap Halloween makeup, it’s usually these base ingredients that are lower quality and likely to cause skin problems. Halloween makeup has also been found to contain detectable levels of heavy metals that can cause problems.” As far as reactions go, Shah says that the heavy texture of Halloween makeup makes it more likely to cause acne. But a few pimples should be the least of your worries. “The FDA does not require cosmetic products and ingredients to be FDA-approved before going to market,” she warns. “The exception to this is color additives, which do require FDA approval, but it is possible to have reactions to dyes.” Shah advises checking the FDA-approved list of color additives. She says red dye is known for causing reactions (it’s also found in other colors) as is PPD (paraphenylenediamine), found in black and dark colored cosmetics and dye.

Masks, prosthetics, plasticizers, and adhesives

Even if you’re not wearing makeup, you may be putting your skin at risk with low-quality masks, plasticizers, or prosthetics when worn for an extended period of time. “Absorption of these plasticizers through the skin from wearing a mask for a short time is low, but the risk is still there,” says Shah. “A poorly fitting mask can [also] cause skin irritation.” Another risky Halloween add-on may be your faux eyelashes or nails. “Glue can damage the nails or cause loss of the eyelashes, either due to pulling and traction [or cause a] skin reaction at the lash line or eyelids,” says Shah.

Be on the look out for heavy metal

And no, we don’t mean the loud music. “The scariest and most concerning substances found in Halloween makeup are heavy metals, which can be toxic,” says Shah. “For example, lead has been found in these makeups, and although lead poisoning doesn’t commonly occur via the skin, it can be absorbed through the skin.”

How to be safe this Halloween

Do a patch test

Shah suggests doing a patch test any time you are using a new product or have sensitive skin. “I recommend applying a small amount to your inner arm — the inner elbow or inner wrist work well — to see if you develop a reaction,” she says. “Some people may develop a reaction immediately; whereas in others it might take a few days, so it’s a good idea to test it out for a few days, even up to a week.”

Check your ingredients

“There is a list of approved color additives on the FDA’s website, so check your makeup’s ingredient list against this list,” says Shah. Be sure to bring the list with you when shopping for costume makeup, especially if you have sensitive skin.

Don’t be too frugal

If you spend more money on face paint or Halloween makeup, you can expect better quality ingredients. “If your regular makeup isn’t going to complete your Halloween costume, try to go for high quality theater makeup,” says Shah. Look for natural-based makeup to be safe.

Treat your skin right

Be mindful of the instructions on your costume makeup — they’re there for a reason. “If you must use inexpensive low quality makeup, don’t use it around your eyes or mouth, especially if it’s not meant for that area,” says Shah. For example, certain dyes are only FDA approved for certain areas. When it comes to removal, wash your makeup off as soon as possible. “You may need to double up on the cleansing (such as a makeup wipe or remover followed by cleanser) to ensure all the makeup is off, and apply a gentle moisturizer with calming ingredients to reduce any mild irritation or dryness. If you have a more significant reaction you may need to see your dermatologist.”

The Wu Tang Clan rapper took Azealia as his plus one to Rusty’s place, but judging by this statement, we’re guessing he regrets it.

Legendary Wu Tang Clan rapper RZA has come to the defense of friend Russell Crowe, refuting Azealia Banks’ claims the actor grabbed her by the throat, spat on her and called her the n-word during a party in his hotel suite.

RZA actually took Azealia as his plus one to the event, but insists it was she who got violent, threatening to “cut a girl in the face with a glass” before “physically attacking” her.

“I head (sic) planned on spending some time with my Buddy RC in his suite so I ask him can she join,” RZA writes on Facebook of how she even came to be there. “He says “cool Bobby” so I invited her.

“Before the night is over Azealia is insulting half the room she becomes loud and obnoxious. There was nothing funny about her behavior. I felt a little embarrassed because she was my guest.”

RZA goes on to explain that when Azealia turned violent, the Gladiator actor stepped in to restrain her before ejecting her from the party.

“Still verbal abuse can be tolerated but when it goes physical… Azealia threaten to cut a girl in the face with a glass, then actually grabs a glass and physically attacks for no logical reason,” he continues.

“Russell blocked the attack and expelled her from the suite. Seeing is believing and I saw her behave as an obnoxious erratic individual and in the circles I frequent this was unprecedented. I was totally puzzled by her and thought maybe meds or booze or something had her zoned out. Nevertheless I made sure she got home safe.”

RZA also opens up about how until that point, he’d been doing his best to help Azealia get a start in the industry.

“Azealia was brought to my attention while I was casting my next Film Coco,” he says, admitting he’d heard whisperings about her behaviour, but decided to believe she was “innocent until proven guilty.”

“So my producer and I fought for her to be in the film and we succeeded. During the filming process things ran smooth and she delivered. Thus my only experience with her had been professional. The only brief social moment was at the wrap party. Therefore “I HAD NO REAL EXPERIENCE OF HER SOCIAL BEHAVIOR…””

The rapper then explained his current working relationship with Azealia saying, “A few weeks ago Azealia hit me up for some economic help and bong I gave a helping hand. She then followed up asking me to help her get a record deal.

“I called a friend and bong a record deal was on the table. The only clause my buddy gave was I be the filter because the word is ‘she is volatile’. I called her and told her a deal was in the workings.

“I advised her to stay focus, leave social media and tabloids alone and let your music and art do your talking. She then hits me for a ticket to LA to work and Bong I comply. She then needs a place to stay and bong I put her in a hotel. I returned to LA shortly after and we scheduled a meeting.”

He also adds that the incident had nothing to do with race or gender and refuted claims made by Azealia that Russell made a racial slur towards her.

“THIS IS NOT A RACE OR GENDER ISSUE. I did not hear Russell call her a N::gg:::: I’m not trying to protect Russell from anything he is a man of his own Caliber,” RZA wrote.

“My art, talent and success speaks for it self and Azealia’s recent slander of me and self victimization reflect’s the personality of the person that was in that room that night. I have a wife, daughters, sisters and females on my staff so I protect women everyday. I pray none of them ever behave the way I witnessed Azealia Banks behaved that night. Rza,” he concluded.

RZA isn’t the first eye witness to defend Russell, with Australia comedian Jim Jefferies taking to Twitter to recall what he saw happen.

“Azelia [sic] Banks is a complete liar. I was in the room. Russell Crowe is completely innocent. I would take a lie detector,” he tweeted a day after news broke of the incident.

While Russell has remained silent on the issue and is yet to publicly respond to the allegations, Azealia has been as outspoke as ever, demanding a public apology from the star.

“I would like him to apologize to me publicly now because [he] went to TMZ, [like an] idiot,” she claimed, although Russell has not spoken on the record to the news outlet.

“I didn’t want to press charges because dealing with the police, dealing with the courts is such an inconvenient thing. I don’t want this happening. They say I’m doing this for attention. Who wants this kind of attention?”

Azealia also claimed the Australian was flirting with her before he “switched” and the pair got into a heated argument.

TMZ has reported a different version of events though, with multiple witnesses telling the outlet Azealia was seen laughing at Russell’s music and then called him and another attendee “boring , white men.”
