Australian cyclist Lachlan Morton has boosted his career comeback by winning the Tour of Utah.

Two years after quitting the WorldTour when struggling and disillusioned, the 24-year-old from Port Macquarie won Sunday’s 78-mile final stage in Park City and did enough to claim the overall title by 69 seconds from American Adrien Costa.

It was a victory for Team Jelly Bean, who signed Morton and his older brother Angus together from last year after the talented Lachlan recommitted to the sport.

He won the Tour of the Gila earlier this year.

“I’ve had a pretty tough few years since the last time I raced well here,” said winner Morton.

“I’ve had a lot of changes in my life and to get back to this top step is very special, and there are a lot of people who were involved with that.”
